by The Sacred Earth Medicine Team on February 06, 2024

This super rich and deliciously creamy drinking chocolate will have you love drunk on the heavenly union of cacao and coconut!

We have adapted this Love Drunk Drinking Cacao recipe from Kimberley Gallagher in Aphrodisiac – The Herbal Path to Healthy Sexual Fulfilment and Vital Living’.

Ingredients

  • 35 g Sacred Earth Medicine Ceremonial Cacao, ground*
  • 1/4 cup of filtered water (60 ml)
  • 1/2 cup of coconut cream or heavy whipping cream (120 ml)**
  • 1/2 Tbsp of coconut oil (optional)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of cayenne and/or cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 – 2 tsp of honey***

Preparation

  1. In a saucepan on a low heat whisk/ stir the cacao and approx. half the water together, until the mixture is silky smooth.
  2. Add the rest of the water, coconut cream, coconut oil (if using) and salt.
  3. Continue to whisk the mixture until it is well combined and even.
  4. Add a pinch of cayenne and/or cinnamon. Be careful not to burn the bottom by stirring regularly. Take the hot chocolate off the heat before it boils.
  5. Stir in the honey or your favourite sweetener.
  6. Pour into your favourite cup and enjoy your Love Drunk Drinking Cacao!

Notes

* Grind or grate the cacao to a fine powder. To grind the cacao blitz it in a food processor for 15 – 20 seconds. Otherwise, grate with a food grater or use a sharp knife to finely cut. You can store extra in your cupboard, so it is ready to use.
** You may want to adjust the ratio of water to cream to suit your preference of desired thickness.
*** Or sweetener of choice - maple syrup / rapadura / coconut sugar. You can adjust this amount to your liking.

The Wheel of the Year consists of 8 Sabbats or festivals which occur at different pivotal times throughout the year, 4 greater Sabbats and 4 lesser.

The Winter Solstice, also known as Yule or Midwinter, is one of the 4 lesser Sabbats on the Wheel the Year and honours the longest night and shortest day.

Like nature, the feminine is cyclical, and women experience this firsthand through their bodies. Similar to the cycles of the sun, moon, and seasons, we weave a continuous and rhythmic dance throughout each month and across our lives.
